Achieving Marble Balance
Achieving Marble Balance
Location: Remuera, Auckland
Stone applications: Kitchen benchtop island, splashback, scullery
Stone Type: Calacatta Marble, Engineered quartz
Granite Workshop sourced, fabricated and installed the kitchen stone surfaces for this considered kitchen renovation within a classic Remuera bungalow, set behind stone walls on a leafy street.
At its centre, an oak and marble kitchen benchtop island fabricated with precision mitred edges and seamless joins, creating a clean benchtop run with a refined architectural profile. Behind it, a book-matched and vein-matched Calacatta marble splashback anchors the point of symmetry — two slabs drawn from the same block and mirrored so their natural veining meets mid-stone in a continuous pattern.
Achieving the butterfly match required technical slab assessment ahead of fabrication, meticulous veining placement and precision alignment craftsmanship to deliver the symmetry the brief demanded and a high-end residential finish throughout.
